First Day of School August 10, 2023
As summer comes to an end, we are excited to welcome another school year and all the potential it brings. Back to school is an important time for our community as we come together to support and prepare our students for success.
We would like to remind our community members of some important safety tips, particularly for students who take the bus:
- Be on time: Encourage your child to be at the bus stop a few minutes early to avoid rushing and ensure that they do not miss the bus. Arriving in a calm and timely manner will help reduce the risk of accidents.
- Wait in a safe area: Teach your child to wait for the bus in a designated safe area, away from the road and traffic. Remind them to be patient and avoid playing or running around near the bus stop.
- Observe traffic rules: Show your child the importance of observing traffic rules, especially when approaching the bus stop. Teach them to look both ways before crossing the street and only cross when it is safe to do so.
- Stay in line and wait their turn: Instruct your child to form a line and wait their turn to board the bus. Remind them to remain patient and not push or shove. This promotes a safe and orderly boarding process.
- Listen to the driver: Encourage your child to pay attention to the bus driver’s instructions and follow them at all times.
- Drivers be on the lookout for children crossing the road, especially in the fall/ winter mornings when they board buses in the dark
By following these safety tips, we can all play a part in ensuring the safety of our children as they board the school bus. Let’s work together to create a safe and supportive environment for our community’s students.
Here’s to a successful and safe school year!
