HCPS Attendance Boundary Analysis

· HCPS Attendance Boundary Analysis ·

Update: 06/21/2023: The Hillsborough County School Board has voted in favor of rezoning school boundaries.

The school board voted 4-3 during a Tuesday evening meeting.

The plan could impact up to 15,000 students who would have to switch schools. The proposal will fully repurpose six schools, partially repurpose four schools and create new boundaries for 103 schools.

“As our enrollment has decreased in certain areas, we have to make sure that we’re making fiscally responsible decision,” School Board Chair Nadia Combs said.

Update 4/15/2023: OUR representative in the HC School Board Nadia Temsamani Combs has voted to move our mid-schoolers from Farnell Middle School to Sgt. Smith Middle School during the 1st round of voting. You can contact her at Nadia.Combs@hcps.net.

We are reaching out to you today regarding a possible change in the Middle School that Fawn Ridge is zoned for. This is an issue for our community for a myriad of reasons: moving from an A-rated school to a B-rated school, the subsequent drop in property values, splintering off our learners from their familiar educational committee, increased transportation times to school, etc.

Under Addison Davis’s boundary analysis plan, Fawn Ridge’s middle school would be rezoned from Farnell Middle to Smith Middle School if this scenario is passed by the board.

Many community members have been appealing to the school board and Superintendent directly. Please join us and contact the school board and superintendent and let them know that we do not want our children to be moved.

We bought our homes in Fawn Ridge to provide the very best lives and education for our children and we will continue to fight to ensure that happens!
